Research Program
Dr. Atwood’s research interests are in the area of sleep apnea detection, using novel
technologies; cost-effectiveness of diagnostic and treatment methods in sleep apnea; home
oxygen therapy; and upper airway physiology, especially in the coordination of respiratory
control and swallowing function. His work is supported by VA IIR HSR&D and Guidant, Inc.
