Research Program
Dr. Cyranowski’s research focuses on mechanisms impacting depression treatment outcome,
psychosocial treatment of comorbid depression and anxiety, and physiologic mechanisms
underlying stress-depression relationships, with a special emphasis on examining biobehavioral
mechanisms of depression in women.  She is currently working to develop enhanced models of
interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT) for depressed patients with lifetime panic and anxiety
symptoms; on the assessment of metabolic, neuroendocrine and immune function within
depressed samples; on the development of depression treatment trials that integrate physiologic
stress assessment paradigms; and on the examination of complex relationships among
depression, stress, and interpersonal function among depressed and never-depressed women.
