Research Program
Dr. Evans’ work involves lipid metabolism and the identification of cardiovascular risk factors.
He is the director of the Chemistry/Nutrition laboratory in the Department of Epidemiology,
University of Pittsburgh. The laboratory supports over 30 projects including studies of lipid
metabolism in HIV infected subjects, and in diabetic and obese individuals. The laboratory
employs a wide range of technology: automated chemistry analyzers, ELISA, RIA, capillary
GC, HPLC and GC-MS to analyze a broad variety of metabolites including: antioxidants,
adipokines, cytokines, fatty acids and hormones.
