The
purpose of the Faculty Development Component of the PMBC-II
is to promote the
dissemination
and exchange of knowledge relevant to Mind-Body Science. In addition,
the
Faculty Development Component provides support and training to young scientists
and
clinicians who believe that they would like to become more involved in
mind-body research.
The
Faculty Development Component also supports training for more established
investigators
already
working in the field, by providing opportunities to gain new knowledge
and methodological
expertise.
The Component accomplishes its mission in three different ways. First,
the Component
conducts
a series of seminars,
workshops, and colloquia in a variety of different topics.
Second,
the Component organizes a Visiting
Scholars Program, in which experts in traditional
areas
of psychological science exchange information with mind-body researchers.
Finally the Faculty
Development
Component oversees a Clinical
Scholars Program for local clinical faculty with interests
in
mind-body research. The intention of the Clinical Scholars Program is to
provide clinical release
time
and mentoring support to faculty in order to enable them to acquire expertise
in mind-body research.
