Research Program
Dr. Jenkins’ research interests can be divided into two separate areas.  He is a molecular
virologist and interested in molecular and epidemiological studies on human herpesvirus 8.
He is also interested in the effects of stress on cells and the immune system.  Current studies
are focused on the effects of stress hormones on immune and non-immune cells at the molecular
level.  These interests originated from earlier studies on stress-induced reactivation of latent
herpesviruses.  He has managed the Behavioral medicine Endocrine Laboratory for the last 12
years.
